LINCOLN VAULTS TO #2 IN STATEWIDE RANKINGS
Tallahassee Lincoln has soared from #23 to #2 in the statewide rankings after winning four games last week, including an 18-6 thumping of then-#3 Tampa Robinson on the way to capturing the Capitol City Classic tournament championship over the weekend.
The Lady Trojans visit #3 Orlando Dr. Phillips this Thursday evening. DP’s ambitious schedule has the Lady Panthers also entertaining #20 Leon on Friday and top-ranked Seminole Ridge on Saturday.
Apopka and Tallahassee Leon, also participants in the weekend’s Classic, are the two teams new to the Power 25 this week. Apopka placed fifth at the Classic. Resurgent Leon blanked then-#4 Tampa Alonso 6-0 in a semifinal before being edged 7-6 by Lincoln in the Classic’s title game. Leon also fell to Lincoln 18-6 last Monday.
Previously #24-ranked Palm Beach Central (6-1), a 40-0 victim of #1 Seminole Ridge on Friday, and last week’s #25 Gibsonton East Bay (6-1) have exited the Power 25 to make room for the Lady Blue Darters and Lady Lions.
