WHO: Venice (6A-7) at Lakeland (7A-5)
WHEN: Friday, May 24
WHERE: Bryant Stadium, Lakeland
WHY: When this spring game was announced several months ago this game would be placed somewhere in the top 10 of spring games automatically. For both the Venice Indians and the Lakeland Dreadnaughts, this game will be a good stick to measure things on as both teams were consider off of what a typical season is traditionally like. Venice, however almost faced a big whammy this off season, as a head coach John Peacock was almost forced out due to tenure issue as a result of another issue regarding the athletic director (see story from HTPreps.com for more details). However, in the end things are settled and Peacock will get to work with transfer QB Dom Marino who is going to fill a major hole for the Indians. For the Dreanaughts, they are going to be looking for key play makers to fill in a lot of holes and rise up to keep this team towards the top. With an offense that was not traditionally in the game as year past, the defense was relied upon to keep Lakeland in a numerous amount of games last season. Overall, this will again be a great test for both teams heading into the summer and fall.
