DISTRICT OUTLOOK
Who’s In:
1. Palm Beach Central – The Broncos had their most successful season last year and things are looking poised for another great year. Kc McDermott is one of the top players in the state and one of the top rated offensive linemen in the nation. Overall, the bullseye is on the back of this team and keeping everything balanced will be a must to win the district again this season.
Fighting It Out:
2. Park Vista – The Cobras open the season at Colerain, Ohio, so getting tested early on should help the team be ready for the start of district play in Week 4. The biggest prospect for the team right now is safety Marques Gayot, who became a verbal commitment for Louisville during the offseason. The biggest thing for Park Vista this season is to try to win the district back from Palm Beach Central, who won it last season.
3. John I. Leonard – The Lancers have been improving as a team over the last couple of seasons and would love nothing more to topple over a district rival that would allow them into the postseason. There are several Division I prospects on the team, providing a boost needed to be able to compete in such a strong district and possibly a playoff berth.
4. Santaluces – The Chiefs move to Class 8A and they also have several Division I prospects at some of the skill positions that should help put the Chiefs on track to another winning season at least. However, the defensive line will need to come together early in the season to keep them in each and every game.
Got Work To Do:
5. Boca Raton – The Bobcats were once a playoff contender just a few seasons ago, but now on their third head coach within just as many seasons, the Bobcats will need to rebuild before trying to aim for the playoffs. The hope of new head coach Jeff Dellenbach is to bring that winning spirit back to Boca Raton and he will have some talent to work with to start getting things back on track this season.
6. Spanish River – Another program that is on its third head coach in just as many seasons. Bill Ceasar returns to his alma mater after coaching at Summit Christian for the past few years in hopes to right the program and make it a winner. The biggest thing will be to develop talent and with the move up to Class 8A things will become even more challenging for the Sharks.
