Below the Top 10 are the regional rankings for Class 5A, showing you how teams are ranked in each of the four designated FHSAA regions.
Class 5A Top 10
1. American Heritage (Plantation), 1-0, 1
Comment: Strong showing against Stephenson, GA riding on momentum from win against IMG Academy in kickoff classic.
2. North Marion, 1-0, 3
Comment: Took furthest trip south for a regular season game and defeated a very tough 7A Blanche Ely.
3. Bishop Moore, 1-0, 4
Comment: Easily defeated nearby neighbor 7A Edgewater in the “Battle of College Park.”
4. Hallandale, 1-0, 5
Comment: Got a good win against a strong Cedar Grove, GA team on the road.
5. Wakulla, 0-1, 2
Comment: Expectations were high for Wakulla against Spartanburg, SC and the War Eagles didn’t execute well in some situations.
6. Clay, 1-0, 8
Comment: Knocked out rival 7A Fleming Island to start off the season.
7. Coconut Creek, 1-0, 9
Comment: Defeated Marist, GA on the road to open up the season.
8. Suwannee, 0-1, 5
Comment: Lost in a defensive battle against 7A Leon to start the season.
9. West Florida, 0-1, 7
Comment: In a defensive struggle with 6A Escambia, the Jaguars came up short in the season opener.
10. Jesuit, 1-0, NR
Comment: Notched a solid win over 7A Lakewood Ranch to start the season.
Dropped Out: Jefferson, 0-1, 10 – Losing QB Cade Weldon to a torn ACL and MCL was a major blow to the Dragons as the lost 7A Tampa Bay Tech to open the season.
