It was a blistering hot day in Hollywood, Florida this past weekend. You could have literally fried an egg on the pavement. But never the less, the players showed. Ten total teams competed in the Elite 7v7 NFA Tournament hosted by HSPN Sports on Saturday, July 9th, all competing for the same thing: the coveted golden cup. After three regular games for each team, single elimination games began and soon there were only fours team left standing in the semifinals. After hours of football with the sun beating down on there backs, Western High School defeated Archbishop McCarthy in the title game. Of course, no 7v7 tournament is complete without a lineman challenge. Stoneman Douglas took home the gold in the team lineman competition.
This was an event like none other with teams from all over South Florida: Coral Glades, Western, Archbishop McCarthy, Stoneman Douglas, Cooper City, Miami Springs, Taravella, Stranahan, Piper, and West Broward. With plenty of competition, your typical trash talk, and refreshing Gatorade, we can now only wait until next year to see who will be crowned champs.
