When: Friday
Where: James Brian Thomas Stadium, Clearwater
Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET
Coaches: Don Mesick, Clearwater; Chris Harvey, Clearwater Central Catholic
Skinny: In last year’s meeting the Marauders pulled out a hard-fought 48-42 win over the Tornadoes and that is what this year’s game could look like – another close battle with their crosstown counterparts. For the visiting Tornadoes, they are coming off a 24-0 home loss to the American Heritage Patriots of Plantation. In that game quarterback Kamrhen Simpkins (2021) went 7-of-17 passing for 124 yards and had two interceptions and defensively Dreteze Tucker (2022) had four tackles and a fumble recovery for the Tornadoes. They will have to greatly improve upon both sides of the ball as such this week in this matchup. For the host Marauders are coming off a heartbreaking 21-15 loss to Sebring. Quarterback Anthony Colandrea (2023) was 10-of-15 passing for 187 yards a touchdown in the game while Terrion Williams (2022) lead in rushing with 28 yards and a touchdown. Receiver Nate Johnson (2023) had five catches for 149 yards and a touchdown for the Marauders as well. Defensively, watch out for cornerback Brandon Kennedy (2022) who had eight tackles and interception while defensive end/linebacker Curtis Roberts (2023) had two sacks against the Blue Streaks last week.
