After missing last week due to illness, Joshua Wilson is back with a look at the Class 4A Regional Rankings with complete analysis as we head into Week 3.
REGION 1
1. Jacksonville Bolles, 2-0
2. Baldwin, 0-0
3. Santa Rosa Beach South Walton, 2-0
4. Havana Gadsden County, 0-2
5. Callahan West Nassau, 0-1
6. Marianna, 1-1
ANALYSIS: It is clear cut that it is Bolles and then everyone else in this region and we are only two weeks into this season. However, props are owed to South Walton who is already off to a hot 2-0 start on the season. Baldwin has yet to play a game due to COVID-19 issues and may not see their first game until
REGION 2
1. Cocoa, 2-0
2. Bushnell South Sumter, 2-0
3. The Villages, 2-0
4. Keystone Heights, 2-0
5. Alachua Santa Fe, 0-1
6. Titusville Astronaut, 0-1
ANALYSIS: This region is top-heavy with at least two teams that I feel will make deep runs with Cocoa and South Sumter leading the way. The Villages is also another solid team that will be in the mix. Keystone Heights, while 2-0, the wins have come against some weaker programs, so let’s see how the rest of the season unfolds for them. After that, it is really hard to gauge who should be in the five and six spots, but this is the best I feel can be there after just two weeks in.
REGION 3
1. Belle Glade Glades Central, 2-0
2. St. Petersburg Lakewood, 2-0
3. Clewiston, 1-0
4. Englewood Lemon Bay, 1-0
5. Delray Beach American Heritage, 0-2
6. Lake Alfred Discovery, 1-1
ANALYSIS: Glades Central, Lakewood and Clewiston are all showing promise as the top three teams in the region this season while Lemon Bay looks to put together a second straight season of a winning season. Stunningly seeing Delray Beach American Heritage at 0-2 to start the season off is not the kind of start we expected, much less not putting as many points in the process. Discovery is making some noise taking the last spot in the region.
REGION 4
1. Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons, 1-0
2. Pinecrest Gulliver Prep, 1-0
3. Miami Carol City, 1-1
4. Miami Booker T. Washington, 1-1
5. Fort Lauderdale Calvary Christian, 1-0
6. Miami Gardens Monsignor Pace, 1-1
ANALYSIS: This is the best region overall in Class 4A football with Cardinal Gibbons leading the way at the top of the region and the top of the state. Gulliver Prep didn’t get to play in Week 2 with their game wiped out with Miami Palmetto due to weather. Miami Carol City fell to a great Oakleaf team while Booker T. Washington was very close to knocking off Miami Northwestern. Calvary Christian will be a team to possibly watch as well as they are new to Class 4A football this year. Monsignor Pace is going through some pains and could be on the edge of being out of the rankings this time next week.
