Eight weeks are in the books for the 2021 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has released their latest look at the RPI football playoff rankings as we head into Week 9 of the season.
As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like come the second week of November, but remember things change, as we still have three weeks worth of games (including this week) to go, however, the playoff picture is starting to become much more clearer with few games left.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 2A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
REGION 1
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) | 6-2 | 0.678 |
2 | University Christian | 5-2 | 0.676 |
3 | Munroe Day | 5-2 | 0.590 |
4 | St. John Paul II (Tallahassee) | 5-2 | 0.576 |
5 | North Florida Christian | 5-3 | 0.550 |
6 | Rocky Bayou Christian | 4-2 | 0.480 |
7 | North Florida Educational | 3-4 | 0.446 |
8 | Aucilla Christian | 4-3 | 0.428 |
9 | St. Joseph | 1-5 | 0.346 |
10 | Saint Francis Catholic | 0-7 | 0.265 |
11 | FAMU DRS | 0-6 | 0.228 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) – BYE
No. 5 North Florida Christian vs. No. 4 St. John Paul II (Tallahassee)
No. 6 Rocky Bayou Christian vs. No. 3 Munroe Day
No. 2 University Christian – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: It should be no surprise that the top two teams that have the toughest schedules in all of the region are ranked No. 1 and No. 2. It is likely both Trinity Christian and University Christian have the top two seeds sowed up pretty close and are likely on a collision course to meet for the regional final – that is if things play out that way. However, Munroe Day, St. John Paul II and North Florida Christian are all looking to make some noise here as the regular season starts to sunset.
REGION 2
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Orlando Christian Prep | 5-1 | 0.668 |
2 | Holy Trinity | 7-0 | 0.617 |
3 | Zephyrhills Christian | 6-1 | 0.609 |
4 | Foundation Academy | 5-2 | 0.598 |
5 | Orangewood Christian | 4-3 | 0.520 |
6 | Father Lopez | 4-3 | 0.492 |
7 | Victory Christian | 2-5 | 0.445 |
8 | Bishop McLaughlin | 0-5 | 0.297 |
9 | Halifax Academy | 0-7 | 0.228 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Orlando Christian Prep – BYE
No. 5 Orangewood Christian vs. No. 4 Foundation Academy
No. 6 Father Lopez vs. No. 3 Zephyrhills Christian
No. 2 Holy Trinity – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Orlando Christian Prep has by far played one of the toughest schedules in the region and has the No. 1 overall seed, but what may be more surprising is Foundation Academy sitting at the No. 4 seed instead of possibly the No. 2 or No. 3 seeds at this point. Zephyrhills Christian could be looking at hosting a playoff game with their record the way it has them sting at No. 3. There is likely one big name missing out likely this year from the playoffs? Victory Christian is sitting just one spot outside the No. 6 seed.
REGION 3
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | First Baptist (Naples) | 6-1 | 0.643 |
2 | Community School (Naples) | 6-0 | 0.630 |
3 | Northside Christian | 4-2 | 0.582 |
4 | Bradenton Christian | 4-3 | 0.532 |
5 | Seffner Christian | 3-3 | 0.517 |
6 | Southwest Florida Christian | 5-1 | 0.503 |
7 | St. John Neumann | 4-3 | 0.485 |
8 | Keswick Christian | 4-3 | 0.484 |
9 | Evangelical Christian | 2-5 | 0.455 |
10 | Indian Rocks Christian | 3-3 | 0.443 |
11 | Cambridge Christian | 1-6 | 0.411 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 First Baptist (Naples) – BYE
No. 5 Seffner Christian vs. No. 4 Bradenton Christian
No. 6 Southwest Florida Christian vs. No. 3 Northside Christian
No. 2 Community School (Naples) – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: First Baptist actually saw their RPI go up from last week despite losing to a quality Bishop Verot team. Community School is also looking as if they might have a hold on that No. 2 seed. Seffner Christian has bounced back into the projections after improving to .500 on the season, but three weeks remain and a lot can happen in this region.
REGION 4
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Avant Garde (Hollywood) | 5-0 | 0.708 |
2 | Champagnat Catholic | 5-2 | 0.641 |
3 | Glades Day | 6-1 | 0.611 |
4 | True North | 5-1 | 0.595 |
5 | John Carroll | 2-2 | 0.543 |
6 | Archbishop Carroll | 4-2 | 0.540 |
7 | Dade Christian | 4-3 | 0.532 |
8 | Westminster Academy | 5-2 | 0.532 |
9 | Marathon | 2-5 | 0.426 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Avant Garde – BYE
No. 5 John Carroll vs. No. 4 True North
No. 6 Archbishop Carroll vs. No. 3 Glades Day
No. 2 Champagnat Catholic – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Avant Garde continues to lead the region in the RPI rankings, but we can tell you that Champagnat Catholic has played a much tougher schedule to this point, but it could be hard to eclipse Avant Garde for the No. 1 seed depending on what the outcomes are over the next three weeks. True North and Archbishop Carroll could be a couple of newcomers to the playoffs if things hold up over the next few weeks.
