Eight weeks are in the books for the 2021 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has released their latest look at the RPI football playoff rankings as we head into Week 9 of the season.

As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like come the second week of November, but remember things change, as we still have three weeks worth of games (including this week) to go, however, the playoff picture is starting to become much more clearer with few games left.

In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.

For Class 6A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.

REGION 1

Rank Team Record RPI
1 Mosley 8-0 0.710
2 Gulf Breeze 6-1 0.650
3 Pine Forest 5-1 0.647
4 Riverside 6-1 0.647
5 Columbia 6-2 0.642
6 Lincoln 5-2 0.632
7 St. Augustine 4-2 0.613
8 Rickards 5-2 0.606
9 Gainesville 5-2 0.600
10 Choctawhatchee 4-3 0.581
11 Booker T. Washington (Pensacola) 4-3 0.548
12 Escambia 3-3 0.516
13 Milton 3-4 0.507
14 Middleburg 4-3 0.472
15 Englewood 3-4 0.461
16 Orange Park 2-4 0.426
17 Fort Walton Beach 1-6 0.414
18 Matanzas 3-5 0.386
19 Ridgeview 1-6 0.354
20 Westside 1-6 0.352

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPS
This is based on current district standings and taking the highest-rated team among the district standings if they have won district games. Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. Teams highlighted in red have officially clinched their district championship.

6A-1: Gulf Breeze – No. 2
6A-2: Mosley – No. 1
6A-3: Columbia- No. 3
6A-4: St. Augustine – No. 4

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

No. 8 Rickards vs. No. 1 Mosley
No. 5 Pine Forest vs. No. 4 St. Augustine
No. 6 Riverside vs. No. 3 Columbia
No. 7 Lincoln vs. No. 2 Gulf Breeze

QUICK THOUGHTS: Mosley has become the front runner for the No. 1 seed in the region, but several other teams like Gulf Breeze, Pine Forest, and Columbia are all jockeying to win out and see if the No. 1 seed can become there’s. The No. 8 seed is up for grabs with Gainesville and Choctawhatchee sitting at No. 9 and No. 10 respectively.

PROJECTED DISTRICT CHAMPS

Should a district not have any district games played as of yet, the highest-rated team will be mythically slotted in as a district champion for projection purposes only. QUICK THOUGHTS: Auburndale has been on a roll and is looking to try to clinch the No. 1 seed in the region, but with a lot of scenarios left this week and next week in district play, a lot can happen. The fact we are seeing some teams like Belleview and Port St. Lucie likely in the playoff mix is a nice sign of change seeing some different teams get in the mix to make the playoffs.

6A-9: Countryside – No. 4
6A-10: Jesuit – No. 1
6A-11: Boca Ciega – No. 3

No. 8 Sumner vs. No. 1 Jesuit
No. 5 Northeast vs. No. 4 Countryside
No. 6 Pinellas Park vs. No. 3 Boca Ciega
No. 7 Hillsborough vs. No. 2 Braden River

QUICK THOUGHTS: It is very clear that Tampa Jesuit is likely to finish as the No. 1 seed in this region, but there is still a lot of fluid things that are left to be determined in the next three weeks and what teams will land with the at-large berths. Buckle up and get ready for the ride.

QUICK THOUGHTS: There is not a lot of shocking things here as the region shakes out as expected with the team we expected to be on top or have already clinched. However, things with the way the seedings are stacking up will certainly change up with three weeks left to go.
