TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The long waited worst-secret which was first reported back in August by the Tallahassee Democrat that Ken Riley Field at Bragg Memorial Stadium on the campus of Florida A&M University will be the home of the 2023 FHSAA football state championships from Thu. December 7 to Sat. December 9.
The official announcement of the site of Bragg Memorial Stadium being the location of the state championships for this football season by the Florida High School Athletic Association on Thursday morning comes after months of speculation of where the state championships would go to after contracts with DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale and Gene Cox Stadium in Tallahassee expired following the 2022 season.
With dignitaries in Tallahassee including officials from Visit Tallahassee, Florida A&M University and the FHSAA were on hand for the announcement at Bragg Memorial Stadium on Thursday morning.

And for FHSAA Executive Director Craig Damon he could not be more happier when he spoke for a moment at the announcement ceremony.
“I can’t think of a greater place to have our football finals this year,” Damon said.
However, the deal is not a done deal just yet as there is one more vote to finalize the deal by the Leon County commissioners as Leon County Commissioner Nick Maddox said a vote in October will finalize the deal and rest assured everyone that the county commissioners would ensure the deal would get finalized.
Maddox also expressed the economic impact that the state championships will have on Tallahassee as it is expected to bring an impact around $11 million to the area.
Overall the excitement and pride for Tallahassee is pouring out everywhere.
“It’s an immense moment of pride for our community. We are really excited to expand our partnership with the FHSAA and Florida A&M,” Kerri Post, the Director of Tourism of Leon County said.
Information regarding playing dates for all nine classifications and ticket information will be released in the near future.
This is a developing story, stay tuned for more updates.
