Week 3 is officially in the books, and the North Central Florida Region delivered more incredible performances here in the early stages of the 2025 season. From game-changing plays to dominating stat lines, athletes all across the region made their mark on opening week.
After reviewing box scores and standout highlights, we narrowed the field down to 10 finalists for the second The Blitz – North Central Florida Football Player of the Week award. We also spotlighted a few more athletes who were strongly considered.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK – WEEK 2
ATH Cameren Solis, Wildwood
Was electric with 248 all-purpose yards, including a 49-yard rushing score, 27 receiving yards, 120 kickoff return yards, and 52 punt return yards in the Wildcats’ 31–26 loss to Leesburg.
WEEK 3 NOMINEES
QB Cy Cubbedge, Bradford
The sophomore kept the offense moving, throwing for 175 yards on 12 completions and adding a rushing spark to fuel the decisive scoring drive.
DL Terry Henry, Columbia
Collected 5 tackles, including 4 for loss, and 3 sacks in the Tigers’ 39-0 shutout of Hillsborough.
DL Ashton Hunt, The Villages
Wreaked havoc in the trenches with nine total tackles, four tackles for loss, and two sacks, setting the tone for the Buffalo defense.
DB Ry’keljan James, Wildwood
Recorded nine tackles including six tackles for loss and three sacks for the Wildcats in their 25-0 victory over Citrus.
RB Chris Johnson, Buchholz
Carried the offense with 199 rushing yards and a touchdown on 29 carries, finishing with 200 all-purpose yards in the 29–19 win over Eastside.
SS Maverick Jones, Williston
Anchored the defense with eight tackles and three interceptions, helping the Red Devils cruise to a 49–7 win over Paxon.
RB Darius Medley, Oak Hall
Rushed for 207 yards and two touchdowns in the Eagles’ 52-30 victory over Seven Rivers Christian.
DL Zachary Perez, Santa Fe
Disrupted everything up front, finishing with two sacks and four QB hurries that smothered the Warriors’ offense.
RB Tony Tanner, Dunnellon
Was unstoppable with 257 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries, adding a 25-yard reception and 18 return yards for a 300-yard all-purpose night in the 28–14 win over West Port.
QB Tywan Williamson, Lafayette
Accounted for 215 total yards, throwing for 157 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 58 rushing yards to guide the Hornets’ 47-22 win over Hamilton County.
