Here are our predictions for the second round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Last Week: 6-2 – 4A
East Gadsden (5-6) at Florida High (7-4)
After knocking off Fort White last week, East Gadsden is looking to do it again against Florida High. However, the Jaguars are going to find it a hard struggle to try to top Florida High in this second round after it flexed a big muscle against Taylor County last week. With that said look for Florida High to make the state semifinals with a likely showdown against Raines next week.
Prediction: Florida High 35, East Gadsden 14
Bolles (8-3) at Raines (9-2)
Another district rematch here and Raines is proving it is a much more dominant team in the games they have played to date. Bolles however has struggled with stronger ranked teams this season and we see no reason to doubt Raines at this point in where their final destination should be and that is Orlando…in two weeks.
Prediction: Raines 40, Bolles 28
Clewiston (10-1) at Cocoa (10-1)
Cocao is going to see a much improved Clewiston team compared to the one the faced last year. Cocoa has been strong, but Clewiston has been flexing a muscle this season. However, the tradition lately with Cocoa has been winning and getting to the state semifinals at least for the past five-six years now and we don’t see that coming to a stop here anytime soon.
Prediction: Cocoa 35, Clewiston 24
Booker T. Washington (11-0) at University School (9-2)
University School is slightly down compared to its state championship team from last year and this game will be the measuring stick of all measuring sticks…and the game that will decided their fate to defending the state title. Going up against the No. 1 team in the nation in the name of Booker T. Washington, this is where things get hairy for the Suns. The Tornadoes have played well in almost every single game this season, they have been challenged a few times and as a result you can bend them, but you can’t break them. However, will the Suns be the one to break this Tornadoes team that is flying high? We don’t see it happening at all as the speed that Booker T. Washington has is more than what University School might be able to match up with.
Prediction: Booker T. Washington 45, University School 28
