Here are our predictions for the second round of the Class 2A playoffs.
Last Week: 8-0 – 2A
University Christian (9-2) at North Florida Christian (8-2)
Both teams are pretty strong teams with each team having several Division I prospects on its roster. The biggest difference we feel is that University Christian has a little bit more experience in its game this season compared to North Florida Christian and that comes both on the field and with the overall schedule. At this point we don’t see anyone stopping the Christians from getting to Orlando, but the Eagles will sure try every way possible to make it happen.
Prediction: University Christian 31, North Florida Christian 20
Victory Christian (8-3) at Warner Christian (9-1)
Victory Christian is looking to be a team that is making a strong rebound as a annual team in the playoffs, but must face the challenge that Warner Christian brings. This team has been one of the top 2A teams in the state for the last five plus years and we don’t see Victory Christian having enough juice to pull a win on the road to face the likely winner of the University Christian/North Florida Christian game next week.
Prediction: Warner Christian 35 Victory Christian 20
First Baptist-Naples (9-1) at Indian Rocks Christian (9-2)
First Baptist is looking strong once again this season and they are starting to make a statement that they are a team to expect in the playoffs from this point forward. Indian Rocks Christian, has had a great year and is looking to push past this round to get the state semifinals, which would be just one more step closer to making the state finals for the first time ever. Who will be hungry for this win? It will all come down to a battle on Friday night.
Prediction: First Baptist 27, Indian Rocks Christian 24
Champagnat (11-0) at Glades Day (8-3)
Champagnat has been rolling this year with tons of talent and great speed on the field…a far fetch from what last year’s squad was. Glades Day is also a different kind of team with a team and the biggest thing is they don’t have Kelvin Taylor. For Chamapgnat it will likely get a challenge for the Gators, but we just see the Lion winning and keep trucking on the road toward their first state finals appearance in Orlando.
Prediction: Champagnat 35, Glades Day 21
