Broward County powerhouse teams, St. Thomas Aquinas and American Heritage-Plantation will square off against each other to start the 2014 season.
The Miami Herald has reported, that both teams will meet at Sun Life Stadium, tentatively set for Friday, August 29 in a battle of two teams that are likely to kickoff the season nationally ranked. However the date and possible time could change depending on the Miami Dolphins 2014 schedule, which has not been released yet by the NFL.
American Heritage is the defending Class 5A state champion from the 2013 season. They defeated Clay out of Green Cove Springs by a score of 66-8 to capture the state title. St. Thomas Aquinas won the 2012 Class 7A state championship, but was knocked out of the 2013 Class 7A playoffs by eventual state champion, Dwyer.
The American Heritage finished the 2013 season ranked No. 18 on the HSFB100 Rankings as compiled by Dallas Jackson of National HS Football. St. Thomas Aquinas finished ranked No. 48 on the same list.
