Welcome to our in depth coverage of the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game. We will presenting previews of all the positions through out the week. This eleventh preview will look in depth of all the wide receivers in this year’s game.
#1 Sebastian LaRue | Santa Monica HS | Santa Monica, CA | 5’11, 185 | Undeclared
Two days prior to the Under Armour Game, Santa Monica WR Sebastian LaRue had decommitted from the USC Trojans. LaRue, ranked 150th in the ESPN 150 rankings, will keep USC in the picture but will also take visits to other schools after the Under Armour Game including Notre Dame and Texas A&M. The California native is considered as one of the country’s best receivers after catching the ball.
#2 Robbie Rhodes | Southwest HS | Fort Worth, TX | 6’1 185 | Baylor
Robbie Rhodes earned the reputation as one of the most elusive and dangerous receivers in the state of Texas and was largely responsible for the success that Fort Worth Southwest had in the 2012 season. Rated as the 45th best prospect in the country according to the ESPN 150 rankings, Rhodes committed to the Baylor Bears over Texas, Texas A&M, TCU and Missouri. Rhodes is a receiver that will thrive in a traffic jam and find a burst of speed in a split second.
#3 Stacy Coley | Northeast HS | Oakland Park, FL | 6’1, 173 | Undeclared
When running his routes and finding solid ways to get open, Stacy Coley is a player that will be about as physical a wide receiver as possible. Rated as the 30th overall prospect in the country on the ESPN 150 rankings, Coley remains uncommitted and could be a Signing Day decision. Coley will visit Florida State in mid-January after the Under Armour Game and has offers from schools such as Miami, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, and USC to name a few.
#4 Laquon Treadwell | Crete Monee HS | Crete, IL | 6’3, 195 | Undeclared
Laquon Treadwell, a participant in the Gridiron Kings and The Opening this past summer, has displayed his ability to excel in tight areas of the field and find ways to make a play happen. Treadwell is rated as the country’s top wide receiver and 20th overall prospect on the ESPN 150 rankings, The Crete, Illinois product remains uncommitted but has had offers from virtually every top program in the country. Treadwell will make a final decision between Oklahoma Oklahoma State and Ole Miss after visiting Oklahoma State on January 11.
#15 Earnest Robinson| Pinson Valley HS | Pinson, AL | 6’2, 200 | Auburn
An early commit to Auburn in February, Earnest Robinson has proven to be one of the more athletic and physical receivers in the country. Rated at the eighth best prospect in the state of Alabama and 201st overall on the ESPN 300, Robinson had to battle back from an ankle injury in 2011 and excel in the 2012 season leading Pinson Valley to an 8-4 season with a season ending playoff to Muscle Shoals, which is the high school of White Team DT Dee Liner.
#4 Robert Foster| Central Valley HS | Monaca, PA | 6’3, 190 | Alabama
As the number two rated WR in the country, according to ESPN, Foster will give the quarterbacks from Team Highlight a great go-to receiver in the Under Armour game. At 6’3, Foster’s hands and speed will stand out over other receivers in the game full of all-stars across the nation. The Alabama commit caught 45 passes for 756 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior at Central Valley (CA).
#8 Damore’ea Stringfellow | Rancho Verde HS | Moreno Valley, CA | 6’3, 203 | Washington
Stringfellow, the 73rd ranked recruit on the ESPN 150, is the biggest wide receiver listed at the 2013 Under Armour All-America game. At 6’3 and over 200lbs, the Washington Husky commit has the strength and size to go across the middle while making the tough catches look easy. “String” as people call him back home, did not start playing football until his freshman year of high school at Rancho Verde. Notable alumni from Rancho Verde include former USC Trojan and current Dallas Cowboys OT Tyron Smith.
#10 Ra’Shaad Samples | Skyline HS | Dallas, TX | 5’11, 170 | Oklahoma State
Ra’Shaad Samples was the go-to player offensively for the Skyline Raiders. As a senior, with his father, Reginald Samples, as head coach, Samples had 1,072 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns to lead all Dallas-area wide receivers in scoring. Samples committed to Oklahoma State back in July 2012. Samples, the 197th recruit on the ESPN 300, confirmed with Texas HS Football in an interview at practice that he will make an official visit to the Kentucky Wildcats on January 11th.
#11 Jordan Cunningham | University School of Nova South | Fort Lauderdale, FL | 6’1, 175 | Undeclared
As the 51st ranked recruit on the ESPN 150, 6’1 WR Jordan Cunningham has plenty of offers to choose from, as he is coming into the Under Armour All-America game undeclared on a college. Having made his official visit to Stanford in November, the Cardinals, as well as Miami (FL), appear to have the lead on the wide receiver from University School, the Florida 3A State Champions. Cunningham hauled in 53 receptions for 817 yards and 7 touchdowns his senior year, leading his team to a perfect 13-0 record.
#25 LaQuvionte Gonzalez | Cedar Hill HS | Cedar Hill, TX | 5’10, 148 | Texas A&M
Gonzalez was one of the main reasons his Cedar Hill Longhorns made the 5A Division II State Championship game this year. The versatile back, ranked 117th on the ESPN 150 recruiting list, committed to Texas A&M back in March 2012. “Quiv”, as teammates call him, played RB at Cedar Hill, rushing for over 1,400 yards and 20 touchdowns, but was recruited to play WR for the Aggies. So far at the Under Armour practices, Gonzalez has been used as a slot receiver, also taking a few handoffs, as well as returning kickoffs.
