After weeks of research and compiling information, we are getting closer to releasing the FloridaHSFootball.com All-State teams for the 2016-17 season. However, first things first, we have our nominees ready for all eight classes as to who will be named to the following awards:
- Most Valuable Player
- Offensive MVP
- Defensive MVP
- Coach of the Year
The MVP will be selected from one of the 10 finalists for Offensive and Defensive MVP from each classification.
As an added bonus, you can vote until 8:00 PM EST / 7:00 PM CST Thursday, February 2 for the Fan’s Choice on each of these awards which will be revealed when the teams are released to the public, most likely sometime next week.

CLASS 5A COACH OF THE YEAR NOMINEES
Matt Toblin, Ponte Vedra
Lead Sharks to first-ever state championship game appearance, finishing with the District 5A-4 championship, an undefeated season record and a 13-1 overall record.
Quintin Lewis, Rickards
Lead team to first regional final appearance in school history, capturing the District 5A-2 championship for the second straight season and finishing the season with a 10-2 record.
Patrick Surtain, American Heritage (Plantation)
In his first year as head coach, Surtain was able to put the Patriots back on track to the state championship game, finishing the season with an unblemished record of 14-0.
Anthony Egan, Wesley Chapel
With this being his first year at the helm at Wesley Chapel, Egan guided the Wildcats to a surprising 7-2 finish after several losing seasons in a row. Egan also had the Wildcats in the hunt for a playoff berth through the end of the season.
Matt Thompson, Jesuit
For the second straight year, Thompson has guided the Tigers to the state semifinals, falling just short to American Heritage. The Tigers finished the season with a 12-1 overall record.
