NAPLES | If you want to be the best, you have to work your way up right? For Mark Ivey at Naples Barron Collier, that is what he is going to be doing as he announced his resignation this morning, according to the Naples Daily News.

Ivey is stepping down to head to Appalachian State University, which his alma mater, to become an outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator.

Ivey has been with Barron Collier since 2007 and leading the Cougars to its best stretch in the school’s 34 year history, including three straight district titles between 2007 and 2009. He will leave the school with a 36-19 record.

The Daily News also reported that the job has been posted and the school would like to have a new head coach in place by the end of March.
