Palm Beach Central football player dies in car wreck

WEST PALM BEACH | 17-year-old Wellington Palm Beach Central football player and wrestler, Daniel McCauley was killed earlier today in a car wreck, the Palm Beach Post reports.

McCauley, who was driving near Okeechobee Park in West Palm Beach in a 2000 beige Jeep Wrangler, had apparently jumped a raised concrete curb, through a barbed wire fence, entered a culvert and struck a utility pole and tree, the Post that was released in a report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

He was airlifted by Trauma Hawk to Delray Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased at 9:21 a.m.

McCauley was a linebacker for the varsity football team and grief counselors were on hand at the school during the day, Broncos head coach Rod Harris told the Post.
