NAPLES | The Barron Collier Cougars could have its new leader in place by next week after receiving 153 applicants to fill the position left open by the departure of Mark Ivey.
The Naples Daily News has reported that a search committee consisting of 10 people, has whittled down the applicant list down to seven finalists, with one of them expected to be offer the position.
Coaches from all around the country applied, but some familar names from around the state included former St. Cloud head coach Mark Jackson and just recently fired Cape Coral head coach Brad Metheny.
Barron Collier’s Athletic Director, Mark Rosenbalm would like to have the new coach in place before spring break starts on April 2.
