With the end of 7-on-7 tournaments, the completion of two-a-day practices, the 2012 Florida High School season is about to begin. With students from seven Florida school districts returning to school last week and most of the others returning this week, everyone is getting back into the daily routine that may help them have successful seasons. While certain teams were able to rise and earn a trip to Orlando, this is a new season. Will the large Tampa area schools dominate as they did last year? Plant, Armwood and Brandenton Manatee are all expected to contend again for state dominance.
The South Florida schools have much to prove. Before 6A state runner-up Central can look beyond their region, many feel they will first have to contend with improved Miami Northwestern and Belen Jesuit teams. Will Norland be the same without Duke Johnson? Does St. Thomas Aquinas return to dominance? Will Cypress Bay be able to escape past Miramar and be the team they were in 2010? Will Lamont Green be able to help Miami Southridge get past Columbus this year on the road to Orlando?
These are some of the many questions we hope to answer at FloridaHSFootball.com. This season I intend to try to look at this great sport from different lens and perspectives. Sometimes I will be strictly informative. Other times, it might just be a story or experience from a game or event. In some instances, I may simply offer reaction to something someone sent to me or from an article from one of our many fine writers across the state. I look forward to learning with you this year.
