Players of The Week for Week 7 through 10, Presented By PhotoBallGuy.com
Week 7:
De’Andre Johnson, QB, First Coast
Johnson threw for 236 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another in a win over Class 4A Yulee, 37-23.
Week 8:
Alphonso Timmons, RB, Chiefland
Rushed for 297 yards and two touchdowns, helping to lift Chiefland to a victory over Williston in the Levy Cup. Final score for the game was 31-21.
Week 9:
Nick DeContis, LB/RB, Oviedo
Had three pass break ups, 3 solo tackles, plus had an important fumble recover that was returned for a 47 yard touchdown in a come from behind win over Orlando Oak Ridge, 16-14 to clinch the District 3-7A Championship.
Week 10:
Shykeem Pitts, DB/ATH, Davenport Ridge Community
Pitts scored the only points of the night for the entire game with just over 2 minutes left to go in the game on a pick-six that was returned for 58 yards. The score gave not only a win for Ridge Community over Lakeland, but the District 5-7A Championship as well. It was Lakeland’s first loss to a Polk County since 2003, according to the Lakeland Ledger.
