ST. PETERSBURG | Gibbs will be looking for its fourth head coach in the last six seasons as Antonio Knox stepped down earlier today, according to a report from Ryan Bass at Bright House Sports Network.
Athletic Director Javan Turner told Bright House Sports Network that Gibbs stepped down to tend to some family issues.
Turner also told Bright House Sports Network that the next phase of Gibbs High School is finding the right person to lead the football program.
Knox, who has been the head coach for the past three seasons after taking over from Donnie Abraham, did not have a playoff appearance during his tenure. In 2011 and 2012, Knox led the team to back-to-back 3-7 seasons. the report indicated.
Gibbs has already posted the position and hopes to have new head coach in place by the end of February.
