WHO: First Coast (8A-1) at Baker County (5A-3)
WHEN: Friday, May 24
WHERE: Memorial Stadium, Macclenny
WHY: First Coast is coming off having an undefeated regular season, but miscues on offense cost them a shot to make another run back to Orlando in the regional quarterfinal against Buchholz. Now the Buccanners, must work to get the offense into a more consistent pattern that will allow them to be ready for what should be a tough 8A-Region I battle come the playoffs this season that includes defending state champion Apopka. Defense will once again be loaded with talented playmakers where the Buccaneers will not skip a beat. Baker County last season shocked a lot of people by winning the district out from under Bishop Kenny and then going two deep, before having Bishop Kenny coming back to steal the thunder. Now the Wildcats will take what has worked for them and continue to build upon it in hopes to become even more successful this fall. The challenge against First Coast will provide a good test as the Wildcats’ district grows and now throws in two more possible challengers for the two playoff spots, including Ribault and Yulee.
