DISTRICT OUTLOOK
Who’s In:
1. Godby – The defending Class 5A state champions are returning quite bit of the talent in the skill position areas. Godby has lined up an out-of-state game against DeMatha out of Maryland and will give them a challenge before starting to dive into the rest of the season. For quarterback J.T. Bradwell and linebacker Jacob Pugh to be leaders of the offensive and defensive side of the balls respectively. Overall, things are looking pretty good for the Cougars to make another deep playoff run and possibly another trip to Orlando this season.
Fighting It Out:
2. Wakulla – Wakulla is facing a slight loss due to graduation, but there is usually no lack of talent for a school that has a lot of heritage behind its program. The War Eagles do have a quarterback to watch in 2016 prospect Feliepe Franks. Franks is already starting to draw interest and it will be fun to watch with what he will do with the team. The easiest thing for the War Eagles? Being in a three-team district that will likely lead the way to another postseason berth.
3. Rickards – The Raiders saw significant improvement last season under new coach Quintin Lewis, who brought new life into the floundering program. A nice amount of seniors will return, providing talent on the field, but must still be able to put together a solid winning game plan each week, especially if the Raiders want to make the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
