Usually a lot of times teams will need to be able to defend the pass and they need someone who will be able to get in there and break up the play or better yet intercept the pass. This is where safeties come into play on the football field and these guys listed below are doing their job above and beyond what is expected of them.

List complied by Florida HS Football Staff

1. Trey Marshall | 5;11 | 196 | Columbia
Verbal Commitment The Scoop
Committed to Florida State Marshall is an outstanding safety who has risen up the charts the last couple of seasons that has helped Columbia rise back to be one of the top teams in the state. He won’t be far away from home for college as he has verbally committed his talents to Florida State.
2. Kyle Gibson | 6’0 | 170 | Armwood
Top College Choices (via 247Sports) The Scoop
Louisville
Miami (FL)
Notre Dame
South Florida
Vanderbilt
Gibson is a defensive leader for Armwood and helped the team through a difficult period prior to last season. He will be called upon this season to help keep opposing defenses marching down the field this season, something that will be highly important as Armwood enters a nine team district.
3. Deion Singleton | 6’2 | 195 | Godby
Top College Choices (via 247Sports) The Scoop
Kentucky
South Florida
Singleton show just how impressive he is and how much he was factor into helping Godby winning a state championship last season. He now has several times to help himself rise up the charts even higher with some highly quality games that will be shown on regional and national television this season.
4. Kendall Gant | 6’2 | 185 | Lake Gibson
Verbal Commitment The Scoop
Committed to Georgia A solid defensive playmaker who helped his team achieve an undefeated regular season last year and returns in hoping to do the same thing for his senior year.
5. Michael Johnson | 6’3 | 180 | Champagnat
Verbal Commitment The Scoop
Committed to Louisville Johnson is a safety to keep an eye on as him and several key transfers have come in that will likely have Champagnat standing on higher ground as a team this season. Expect him to have even bigger numbers this season compared to last.
