Welcome back Football Season! Here is what to look for this season with Florida HS Football

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Well…not exactly, but it felt like that for a lot of teams this morning as they took the fields for the first time to practice today. The excitement can be hardly contained and we can hardly contain our excitement about the upcoming season.

We got a lot of big things in store here and we couldn’t be happier to get this information out there to you.

SCOREBOARDS

We are making some changes to our scoreboards this season that we hope you all will appreciate in preparation of learning of how the playoffs will take shape this season.

The regional scoreboards are gone and the classification scoreboards are in.

The reason? It is a very simple answer: What happens in your team’s district is what gets you into the playoffs, not your geographical region. Also it is a good way to track the entire classification and neighboring districts to see who could potentially make the playoffs, giving you an advantage to learning more about the teams and how they perform each week.

Also Independents will have their own scoreboard with Independent conferences being listed inside these scoreboards each and every week.

Overall, our goal is to bring you a scoreboard experience that will be second to none in the state of Florida.

STANDINGS

We will have a full standings page for each and every district in each classification and we will also keep track of the standing for all the independent teams in a clear and concise format on the site each and every week. This will give you a full insight to who is doing well and who might be sneaking up.

PHOTO PROJECT

Fans, coaches, players, parents, teams and fans are encourage to submit photos for the Florida HS Football Photo Project. Some teams that will be in this include Mount Dora, North Florida Christian, Lake Mary, Apopka, Cypress Bay, Trenton, Gainesville, Miami Central and many more. To make sure your team is represented, get your photo sent to us at football@floridahsfooball.com. For more details on the project, click here.

FLORIDA HS HELMET PROJECT

We are in the process of getting the Florida HS Helmet Project back up online and we plan to have this fully back up before the start of the season. It will reside on the main Florida HS Football website, but the domain FloridaHelmetProject.com will lead right to it as well in the very near future

PRESEASON ALL-FLORIDIAN CLASSIFICATION TEAMS

We will release our preseason All-Floridian classification teams next week. Each classification will have a team and players who might be aligned in an independent team will be placed into the classification team that their team would fall under by the classification enrollment number guidelines set forth by the FHSAA.

There are tons of great players out there and we fill the exposure of a team in each classification will be huge.

RANKINGS

We will be doing our own statewide classification rankings once again providing our look of how we feel about the state. These rankings will be done in house and will comb over stats, records and other information from each week’s games. We will provide some deep insights into our rankings this year, which will require an MVP Subscription to access.

Also we will be looking to run other rankings weekly from other outlets regionally, statewide and nationally including MaxPreps, USA Today, PrepNation and any others that are brought to our attention that we could feel would benefit everyone who visits FloridaHSFootball.com.

DISTRICT PROJECTIONS & STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PROJECTIONS

Within the next week, we provide our district projections for the season. With reclassification and some recent cancelations of a few programs, things will be a bit different than first thought of after spring football, but nonetheless it should be fun. Also we will provide our TOO EARLY State Championship game projections…who do we think will make it to Orlando.

PICK’EMS CONTEST

We are in the process of installing a pick’ems contest program that will run a pick’ems contest. Our goal is to get tickets for the top winners to one of the eight FHSAA State Finals games in Orlando this season. We will have more details as we put the finishing touches on this.

WEEKLY COVERAGE & COLUMNS

We will break down some of the biggest games of the week across the state, who we think could pull off the win and as time gets closer we will breakdown playoff projections based upon current standings and information to make a projection. Expect that and other neat things during the season. Some of the content on our weekly coverage and columns will require an MVP Subscription.

GAME DAY COVERAGE

We will be sending out quite a few people once again to different games around the state this season to see what is going on not only with the teams, but seeing who is standing out on the field. Our goal is to get five to ten different stories out each week from various games, plus other potential feature stories for the upcoming week. As always all game stories from each and every week will be available free to everyone on Florida HS Football.

FRIDAY NIGHT STANDOUTS

We want to honor the players who had a big night on the field and we will want you to let us know who to recognize each and every week on our Friday Night Standouts report each Monday. All you will have to do is email us your Friday Night Standout information to get it on the list. Our email is football@floridahsfootball.com. Include as much information as possible about your Friday Night Standout, so everyone can learn more about the standout.

MOBILE FRIENDLY

Remember, our site is mobile friendly meaning no matter what device you use, we will be ready for you! We are proud to be the only statewide high school football website to provide this option without having to type in a special address to get a mobile version. All you have to do is type in FloridaHSFootball.com in any web browser and the website will adjust to your screen size, making the site easy to view across the board.

FLORIDA HS FOOTBALL MEDIA POLL

Our biggest announcement for the season, was saved for last. We are adding a brand new media poll to the website. The Florida HS Football Media Poll will be different in a lot of ways. It gets the newspapers and other media outlets, including staff here at Florida HS Football,  involved and put together a more realistic poll of top teams regardless of classification, but the difference is…it will be split between the Top 20 Large Schools (Classes 5A to 8A) and Top 20 Small Schools (Classes 1A to 4A). Smaller school teams (Classes 1A, 2A and some of 3A) are traditionally left off a single all-classification poll and it does not fairly give these programs a chance to receive the honors they should.

As such we have been approaching many of the wonderful high school sports writers in the state to particpate and the response has been nothing, but outstanding for launching this poll. Here are just some the newspapers and media outlets that will be participating this season:

  • Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville
  • Pensacola News Journal
  • Panama City News Herald
  • St. Augustine Record
  • Tampa Bay Times
  • Daytona Beach News-Journal
  • Jackson County Floridan
  • Naples Daily News
  • Palm Beach Post
  • TC Palm
  • Big County Preps
  • 4 Quarters Online

and many more……

We are excited about this and we believe the fans will be highly impressed once the Preseason poll is released on Tuesday, August 20.

INTERNSHIPS

We are still seeking interns who are interested in learning what the Florida HS Football scene is all about. We have different positions open and you can check all of that and fill out an application by clicking here.

ARE YOU READY?

Are you ready???? The Road To Orlando starts today and everyone is starting on a fresh, clean slate. We want to wish every team, player and coach the best of luck this season and we want to thank everyone including everyone mention already and the fans for helping us become the #1 High School Football Website in the state of Florida in just under four seasons. If you don’t believe us, just take a look at our Twitter and Facebook following as it speaks for itself alone.
