QUICK HITS
Pensacola: Pensacola missed the playoffs in 2012 after having made them several years prior including 2009 when the won the-then Class 3A (now 5A) state championship. The Tigers made a big statement during the spring football game that they were going to be a better team this year, but things didn’t look so bright last week against Rickards in the preseason opener where they fail to produce a touchdown the entire game. Pensacola is clearly a weaker team here in this game, but at times they are known to give better teams fits.
Lincoln: A lot thought Lincoln was going to struggle against South Gwinnett and they proved a lot of us wrong. After getting the first win of the season, the momentum and focus shifts to tonight’s game and the talent level is exceptionally better for the Trojans. Overall, do not be surprised to see a lot of the same that was shown against South Gwinnett in this game again.
THE RANKINGS
Pensacola is not ranked in either the Class 6A Super 12 rankings or in the Florida HS Football Media Poll – Large Schools Division section. Lincoln is ranked #4 in the Class 7A Super 12 rankings and #14 in the Florida HS Football Media Poll – Large Schools Division.
WHAT COULD HAPPEN
Pretty much either this game is going to be close or this could be a runaway train by Lincoln. Of course anyone would like to see things stay close, but knowing what Lincoln bring to the table compared to Pensacola it is hard deny the fact that Lincoln has a huge advantage, even if it is less than a week since playing their first game.
ADVANTAGE: Lincoln
