QUICK HITS
University Christian: The Christians will use this game to try to rebound from a collapse to the start the season at Highlands, KY back on Saturday to get their record back to even .500. At least this week the teams is more relative in size compare to the bigger Highlands team and therefore it they should be a lot more competitive on the field. Overall, don’t let last weekend’s game fool you. This team still has the talent to run the table again in Class 2A.
Carrollwood Day: The Patriots are coming off their best season in school history and they have picked up several key transfers from other area schools that should help keep them at the top of their district. While the talent is there, the issue for Carrollwood Day is going against several players that Division I caliber players or have the potential to get there by the time the end of the season gets here. Look for this team to make a competitive game against the defending Class 2A state champions.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
7 – Number of state championships that are in the University Christian trophy case.
7 – Another seven here, with seven players between the two teams on the Class 2A All-State Preseason Elite Team
218 – the number of tackles Dominic Cuono and Max Frankel had combined in 2012. Over 12 games that is 18.16 tackles between the two per game.
INSIDE THE RANKINGS
University Christian is ranked #1 in the Class 2A Super 6 rankings while Carrollwood Day is ranked #5 in the same set of rankings. University Christian is ranked #7 in the Florida HS Football Media Poll – Small Schools Division while Carrollwood Day received votes in the same poll.
WHAT COULD HAPPEN
This game looks to be on paper to be one that should be close and competitive. However, with the potential of University Christian’s class in terms of overall potential Division I talent, this should give the defending Class 2A state champion their first win of the season, while we think it will take another week before Carrollwood Day gets that first win.
