LAKE CITY – The Florida HS Football Media Poll heading into Week 8 had a bit of shake up, but was pretty much limited to the Small School Division.
The biggest change in the Large Schools Division of the Media Poll, was Columbia tumbling from No. 7 to being tied at No. 15 with West Florida out of Pensacola after their 34-17 loss to Ed White in Jacksonville last week. The second biggest change was American Heritage-Plantation jumping up from No. 12 to No. 10 after steamrolling Bolles 60-21 last week at home.
However, in the Small Schools Division, things are looking quite different than what they were last week.
Cocoa jumps up to No. 3 from No. 4, Tampa Catholic jumps to No. 4 after being at No. 7 last week and Clearwater Central Catholic jumps up four spots from No. 9 to No. 5.
Trinity Christian-Jacksonville slips from No. 3 to N0. 6 after falling to one of the top Class 5A teams, Godby, 42-6. The Cougars are ranked No. 7 this week in the Large Schools Division of the Media Poll.
However, the biggest splash made was done by the Champagnat. The Lions jumped up six spots from No. 16 to No. 10 after pulling away a huge victory against a young, but tough Chaminade-Madonna team last week. As such Chaminade is catching big time attention as things head into the backstretch of district play.
Only one new team enters the Media Poll this week with Westminster Christian, which actually rejoins the rankings after being ranked earlier this season. The Warriors pulled off a very convincing 27-21 over a previously undefeated Gulliver Prep.
