LAKE CITY – With just one more week before the 2013 regular season comes to a close a lot of teams are already lining up for their shot at making a deep run into the playoffs.

For the Florida HS Football Media Poll, some teams lost forcing a tiebreaker or some won to do the same thing. And for some teams, scores that went closer than expected caught the attention of our voters as well.

The Top 5 in the Large Schools Division of the poll remained unchanged, but Miramar did leapfrog over St. Thomas Aquinas to take the No. 4 spot. Miramar had previously defeated St. Thomas Aquinas 22-20 earlier this season.

West Florida and Lakeland, which both lost after playing deciding district games fell out of the poll, but two new teams got ranked for the first time this season with Kathleen and Deerfield Beach checking in. Kathleen checked in at No. 18 while Deerfield Beach is in at No. 19.

In the Small Schools Division of the poll University School reclaimed the No. 2, a position it has held for most of the season, except for being ranked No. 3 in last week’s poll.

However, with Cardinal Newman and Frostproof losing last week, both teams dropped out of the rankings and with that Fort White reenters the poll for the second time this season at No. 19 while Union County reenter again as well at No. 20.
