Escambia High School announced late Friday that it would be hosting Vidor High School out of Texas to start the 2014 season.
Both schools have agreed to a two-year contract with Escambia hosting this season and Vidor hosting the Gators in 2015. The 2014 game will take place on the campus of Escambia High on August 30 with a kickoff slated for 4:00 PM Central Time.
Escambia was 7-4 overall last year that includes an appearance in a post-season bowl game. Escambia is also noted for having a huge game in the 2013 season against Rutherford of Panama City where they rushed for over 700 yards.
Vidor, which has a team mascot of the Pirates, was 4-6 in 2013, but did have success in 2012 finishing runner-up in Texas’ District 20-4A.
Escambia last year played Legacy High School out of Colorado to open the season. In that game the Gators won 43-19 as part of an event hosted by KSA Events at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
