Central Florida is home to a lot of great teams and there will be quite a few great games to watch this season, especially as some teams travel into the area to take on quality opponents.
Corey Davis, takes a look for us on some of the top games that will be featured in Central Florida for the upcoming 2014 season.
August 29
Timber Creek at Dr. Phillips
Why: One of the state’s best tailbacks Jacques Patrick goes up against one of the state’s best defenses. Patrick and his team will look to avenge last seasons 35-0 beat down in the season opener.
September 5
Trinity Christian (Jacksonville) at Warner Christian
Why: The defending Class 3A state champions from Jacksonville make the hour trip down 95 South to take on a rebuilding small school power. The Conquerors are loaded and will offer a solid test for the Eagles.
Bolles at Deland
Why: Five years ago, Deland surprised many with a run all the way to the state finals, since then the Bulldogs have fallen on tough times. What a better way to make an early statement than a win over 11 time state champion Bolles.
September 12
Oak Ridge at West Orange
Why: The two teams are rising fast in the Orlando-area and while this may not have playoff implications, they will be jockeying for position to be recognized as some of the best teams alongside Apopka, Dr. Phillips and Mainland, just to name a few.
September 19
Oviedo at Hagerty
Why: Not only is the game between arch-rivals, its also between District 8A-3 opponents. Forever, Oviedo was the only game in town until it got to big and Hagerty opened in 2005 and a rivalry was born.
September 26
Plantation American Heritage at Mainland
Why: Defending Class 4A state champs travel to Daytona to take on one of the premier programs in the area, who is made trips to the state semifinals two of the last three years.
October 3
Apopka at West Orange
Why: The District 8A-4 title will be on the line, expect an offensive shootout between these two athletic teams.
October 10
Lake Nona at Osceola
Why: Tucker Israel faces one of the areas best defenses featuring linebacker Riley Nicholson and likely decided the playoff spots for District 7A-6
October 17
Plantation American Heritage at Apopka
Why: Defending Class 4A state champs travel to Central Florida to take on the Class 8A state runner ups.
October 31
Timber Creek at Oviedo
Why: If things go as planned, this one will decide the District 8A-3 championship.
