Booker T. Washington keeps the top spot on Florida’s HSFB Top 25 heading into Week 7

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Booker T. Washington Tornadoes (6-0) continue to keep the top spot on Florida’ HSFB Top 25 poll going into Week 7.

The Tornadoes who were idle this past week, kept all the first place votes once again this week and are now preparing to play 4-1, Miami Northwestern this week.

Miami Central (5-1) follows behind Booker T. Washington at No. 2 after a dominant performance against Homestead last week. Another Class 6A foe, Mainland (6-0) remains at No. 3 after winning 35-0 at Deltona in a District 6A-9 contest.

St. Thomas Aquinas (4-1) remains at No. 4 following at 70-0 win over district rival South Broward. Rounding out the top five is First Coast (5-0) which keeps a hold of the No. 5 spot despite a 13-7 win over district rival Mandarin.

Rounding out the Top 10 includes, Dr. Phillips (6-0) at No. 6, Armwood (5-0) at No. 7, Flanagan (6-0) at No. 8, Niceville (5-1) at No. 9, which rise from one spot from No. 10 and American Heritage-Plantation (3-2) falls one spot from No 9. to No. 10 this week.

East Lake (6-0) jumps up two spots from No. 13 to No. 11 after winning big last week against Seminole (Seminole) to stay undefeated on the season.

The biggest change in the Top 25 came this week with Apopka (4-2), which was tied for the No. 10 spot last week, completely fell out of the Top 25 after suffering its second loss on the season. West Orange (6-0), which defeated Apopka for the first time since 1999, enters the poll this week at No. 17, the highest entry point for any team so far in the Top 25 this season.

Florida’s HSFB Top 25 is voted on weekly by sportswriters and sportscasters from around the state. Florida’s HSFB Top 25 is the only all-classification poll voted on through out the state during the season by members of the media.
