The playoffs are here upon us and we are going to take a dive and look at this week’s slate for Class 4A, Region I & II regional semifinals with our prediction of who will advance to next week’s regional finals.
Region III
Calvary Christian (7-2) at Cardinal Mooney (7-3)
The Skinny: Cardinal Mooney was embarrassed 20-2 at home last week to Booker and has a lot of anger to take out on a Calvary team that has allowed less than 14 points six of their nine games.
Prediction: Cardinal Mooney
Bishop Verot (5-5) at Clearwater Central Catholic (9-1)
The Skinny: The defending Class 3A state runner-up seemed to have fallen off the radar map following a 55-21 loss from IMG Academy. Be careful that’s just what the Marauders want teams to do forget about them.
Prediction: Clearwater Central Catholic
Region IV
Cardinal Newman (4-5) at Westminster Christian (9-1)
The Skinny: This one has mismatch written all over it and it might be but something tells me this one might be a lot closer than most think. Cardinal Newman, coached by former Miami great Steve Walsh, will have their hands full stopping an offense which has scored 35 points in 7 of their 10 games.
Prediction: Westminster Christian
Chaminade-Madonna (4-4) at Delray American Heritage (8-1)
The Skinny: Chaminade is in over their heads with this game matching up with state power American Heritage. Often forgotten, the Stallions who scored forty or more points in six of their nine games got everyone’s attention with a win over nationally ranked and arch rival Plantation American Heritage.
Prediction: Delray American Heritage
