FERNANDINA BEACH – The ship has departed out to sea once again for the Fernandina Beach Pirates as they will now try to find a new head football coach with just less than two months before the start of the 2015 season.
Per Justin Barney at The Florida Times-Union, Casey Thiele has resigned as head coach at the Nassau County school after guiding the team through spring practices.
Thiele, who last year served as the defensive coordinator under Tim Krause at Nease in St. Johns County, was previously the head coach at West Nassau in Callahan during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He was originally hired to replace Travis Hodge who resigned after season.
The reason for Thiele’s resignation is unknown.
Fernandina Beach hopes to have a new head coach hired soon, per Barney’s tweet.
