As 166 of the nation’s top high school players get ready to take part in The Opening in Oregon next week and each of the major recruiting services has recently updated its Class of 2016 rankings, USA TODAY High School Sports has done its first composite rankings of the year.
Rashan Gary, a defensive tackle from Paramus Catholic in New Jersey, is at no. 1 overall, thanks to top rankings by ESPN and Scout and a No. 2 ranking by 247 Sports.

Among the interesting tidbits in the chart below is the disparity in opinions on some players.
For example, Ole Miss quarterback commit Shea Patterson is in the top 4 for both Rivals and Scout but ranked in low-20s by ESPN and 247. Georgia defensive tackle commit Julian Rochester is in the top 7 by 247 and ESPN but Rivals has him at No. 56. Similarly, defensive tackle Ed Oliver is No. 5 by ESPN but No. 56 by Rivals.
