Here are the Class 4A Preseason Rankings from FloridaHSFootball.com.
Class 4A Top 5
1. Cocoa: Has played in a state semifinal or state final game every season since 2007. Although it is reported that the team only has 29 players on the roster, do not let this fool you. Cocoa is a well coached team under John Wilkerson and they are a big favorite to finally reach Orlando for the first time since 2010. The Tigers finished the 2014 season with a 11-2 record.
2. Booker T. Washington: Defending Class 4A state champion has quite a few new faces on the team with a new, old head coach will be part of the many differences of this year’s Tornadoes team compared to the last four seasons. Some feel though that the team may take a step back this year, but they still scheduling tough with a current 41-win streak coming into the season. Finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record.
3. Bolles: Class 4A state runner-up for the last three seasons, the Bulldogs are breed of their own when it comes to the game. That is because of the proven leadership of Corky Rogers who has won 10 of 11 state championships ever won by the Jacksonville school. A favorite right now to make another run again to Orlando, but will do so with some new faces in the starting line up. Finished 2014 with a 11-3 record.
4. Clewiston: Probably one of the most overlooked teams in Class 4A, the Clewiston Tigers have been quietly rebuilding under the leadership of Pete Walker. After taking Cocoa right to the wire in the Regional Finals last year, some of the Clewiston faithful feel this might be the year for them to make a run to Orlando. Finished the 2014 season with a 11-1 record.
5. Walton: After falling short to Madison County by one point in the regional semifinals last year, this could be a big year for the Braves with running back Azende Rey in the lineup for his senior season. Some feel this might the year for Walton to make something happen since the Jeff Webb days. The path to the playoffs though will either go through Bolles, Raines or possibly both. Finished the 2014 season with a 7-4 record.
