1. Trenton, 3-0, 3
Week 3: Defeated Port St. Joe, 48-13
This Week: Idle
Comment: It was an ultimate no-brainer to leap frog Trenton over Fort Meade to the No. 1 spot after Trenton made easy work of the defending Class 1A state champion. The Tigers head into a bye week before opening their six-game district schedule next week.
2. Fort Meade, 3-0, 2
Week 3: Defeated Mulberry, 44-6
This Week: vs. Pierson Taylor
Comment: Still in demolition mode, Fort Meade keeps flexing its muscle’s in the games it has played so far, but it doesn’t have a signature win yet like Trenton got this past week. Will open up district play this week against Pierson Taylor.
3. Union County, 3-0, 4
Week 3: Defeated Newberry, 39-13
This Week: vs. Newberry
Comment: Possibly erased a lot of doubts that they could compete against a strong team as they overwhelmed Newberry at home. Will make a trip up to Hilliard to take on the Red Flashes this week as district play opens up.
4. Vernon, 2-0, 5
Week 3: Idle
This Week: vs. Cottondale
Comment: Vernon had the past week off, but now comes time for their first district game of the season. The Yellow Jackets will host Cottondale as they open up district play in District 1A-2.
5. Pahokee, 2-0, NR
Week 3: Defeated Cardinal Newman, 21-7
This Week: vs. Crescent City
Comment: Pahokee defeated former district rival Cardinal Newman last week to stay undefeated on the season. Now with district play opening up, the Blue Devils will officially welcome in their first opponent in Class 1A when undefeated Crescent City comes to town.
Dropped Out: No. 1 Port St. Joe
