QUICK HITTERS: Palm Beaches Region – Week 4

We have come up with a new way to get the information that we wan to give to our Premium Subscribers in a much quicker and easier to read version. Welcome to Quick Hitters, giving you a quick rankings run down for each and the top five games. We might also include a few tidbits on what is going in the region as well depending on what it is about.

Here is this week’s Quick Hitters for the Palm Beaches Region for Week 4.

Quick Hitters

Dwyer off to a fast start

After missing the playoff last year for the first time last year since 1999, the Dwyer Panthers are bound not to let the same mistake happen again.

In fact, according to the Palm Beach Post, they are making sure that no one scores on them at all.

That is because for every point the Panthers give up this year that will have to do a 100-meter sprint at the next practice. That is something the team does not want to have to do and so far things are paying off with Dwyer already posting two shutouts in three games.

Delray Beach American Heritage bounces back

After taking on Bergen Catholic in Week 2, the Stallions knew they had to bounce back in Week 3 against Glades Central or otherwise the noise was going to get louder.

Sure enough the noise is now quiet.

American Heritage scored big on Glades Central in a 35-19 rout last week and moved to 2-1 heading into a bye week this week. The Stallions are glad to have this win with a district showdown against Oxbridge Academy coming up in just two weeks from today.

Top 5 Games

No. 7 Glades Central at No. 2 Delray Beach Atlantic (2-0): Glades Central looks to bounce back after last week’s loss to Delray American Heritage while Atlantic looks to continue to roll this season.

No. 6 Boca Raton (2-0) at No. 8 Spanish River (3-0): Boca Raton has gotten off to a surprising start and is undefeated coming into the first district game of the season. What is even more surprising is the fast start of Spanish River at 3-0. Either way each team will want this win badly to be on top of District 8A-10.

Crescent City (3-0) at No. 5 Pahokee (3-0): A key District 1A-8 showdown for both teams as both have played higher classification teams already to this point, but Pahokee might be the stronger of the two teams in this first-ever meeting of the programs.

Palm Beach Central (0-3) at Wellington (2-1): A must-win for Palm Beach Central if they want to contend in making the playoffs once again this season as they go up against their crosstown rival in Wellington in this key District 8A-9 matchup.

Park Vista (1-2) at Lake Worth (3-0): A key District 8A-10 matchup in which is more of a must win for Park Vista if they want a shot at the playoffs. For Lake Worth, getting off to a fast 3-0 start is impressive and could help them here in this game.
