Here are FloridaHSFootball.com’s Class 7A Rankings after Week 4. Ranking, team name, record and previous rank included for each team.
Below the Top 10 are the regional rankings for Class 7A, showing you how teams are ranked in each of the four designated FHSAA regions.
Class 7A Top 10
1. St. Thomas Aquinas, 4-0, 1
Week 4: Defeated Cypress Bay, 45-10
This Week: at Hallandale
Comment: St. Thomas Aquinas rolled by Cypress Bay as they hung up 35 points on the Lightning in the first quarter. Could get tested this week for the first time in road trip against Hallandale.
2. Dwyer, 3-0, 2
Week 4: Defeated Palm Beach Lakes, 41-6
This Week: at Palm Beach Gardens
Comment: Went on the road and easily took care of business against Palm Beach Lakes to get their first district win of the season. Will now travel this week to take on crosstown rival Palm Beach Gardens.
3. Braden River, 3-0, 5
Week 4: Defeated Lakewood Ranch, 41-0
This Week: vs. Leesburg
Comment: After rolling over Lakewood Ranch in the district opener, the Pirates continue to prove doubters wrong as they did last year. Will face a Leesburg team this week that has already shown flashes of putting up points quickly last season.
4. Venice, 4-0, 5
Week 4: Defeated North Port, 56-0
This Week: vs. Coral Reef
Comment: Had to battle with a scrappy Sarasota Riverview team, but the defense pulled out for a win over their in-county rival. Will open up District 7A-11 play against North Port this week.
5. Columbia, 4-0, 9
Week 4: Defeated Robert E. Lee, 53-0
This Week: vs. Escambia
Comment: Rolled over Robert E. Lee in the district opener to stay undefeated on the season. Now the Tigers will get ready for the Escambia Gators as they roll into town this week.
6. Plant, 3-1, 6
Week 4: Defeated Leto, 41-7
This Week: at Armwood
Comment: Rolled by district opponent Leto to get an early start in the district. This week though the Armwood-Plant rivalry returns for real in the regular season and this will tell us where both teams stand in terms of being teams that could make state championship runs this year.
7. Winter Haven, 3–1, 7
Week 4: Lost to Osceola (Kissimmee), 27-18
This Week: vs. Lake Region
Comment: Took a very close loss to a very strong Osceola team in stride and as such we are not playing knock around with them at this particular point. Should get back to winning ways this week when they host Lake Region.
8. Buchholz, 3–1, NR
Week 4: Defeated Oakleaf, 20-14
This Week: vs. Vanguard at Citizens Field
Comment: Just wow! Took the loss at Columbia Week 3 and put it to task last week to pull the upset on Oakleaf and snatch a district win. Will get ready to face off against Vanguard this week that is 3-1 as well.
9. Oakleaf, 3–1, 2
Week 4: Lost to Buchholz, 20-14
This Week: at Clay
Comment: After a rough week, Oakleaf played poorly and blew a district game to Buchholz. It makes the rest of the season interesting for the Knights as they will have to win out just to reach the playoffs at this point. Will take on Clay this week in a Clay County showdown.
10. Lakeland, 3–1, 10
Week 4: Defeated Fort Lauderdale, 48-0
This Week: at Haines City
Comment: Dreadnaughts bounced back this week by shutting out Fort Lauderdale at home. Howeve it was not a statement or a win that would allow us to move them up the rankings at this moment.
Dropped Out: No. 8 South Fort Myers
