FLAG FOOTBALL: Seminole Ridge stays on top in Class 2A Flag Football rankings going into Week 2

As week two begins for the 2016 Flag Football season, there was little movement in the Class 2A poll this week with the exception of one team.

Top ranked Seminole Ridge remains on top of the poll, with Everglades, Oak Ridge, Fleming Island and Apopka not far behind.

Boca Raton dropped out of the poll after back-to-back losses allowing Apopka, Alonso, Plant and newcomer Timber Creek to move up in the rankings.

1. Seminole Ridge (1-0)
Last week: No. 1
Why: Defending state champs winners of 65 of their last 66 game keep rolling along with a 34-0 win over Palm Beach Central.

2. Everglades (2-0)
Last week: No. 2
Why: The Gators posted shutout wins over West Broward 27-0 and Cooper City 19-0 to start off the season.

3. Oak Ridge (2-0)
Last week: No. 4
Why: Posted wins over Kissimmee Liberty 53-0 and Lake Nona 27-12 to jump up one spot to start of the season on a high note.

4. Fleming Island (2-0)
Last week: No. 5
Why: May not be a better coached team than the Golden Eagles who have opened up with wins over First Coast 31-0 and Fletcher 28-6.

5. Apopka (1-0)
Last week: No. 8
Why: Blue Darters pounded host DeLand 33-0 in the season opener to start the season off on the right note. A team to keep an eye on.

6. Alonso (2-0)
Last week: No. 9
Why: It wasn’t easy by any means necessary, but the Ravens opened up the season with wins over 2A HM Bloomingdale 14-7 and Sickles 7-0.

7. Plant (1-0)
Last week: No. 10
Why: Plant didn’t waste any time throttling Tampa Freedom 54-0 in their season opener as the Panthers unwind into spring break.

8. Timber Creek (2-0)
Last week: HM
Why: Wins over Winter Park 52-0 and Orlando University 19-0 propelled the Wolves into the rankings.

9. Taravella (0-0)
Last week: No. 3
Why: Taravella was idle last week after a scheduled game was canceled but takes on tough Deerfield Beach team this week in opener.

10. Plant City (0-0)
Last week: No. 6
Why: Plant City doesn’t open its season until after Spring Break on March 22 against Tampa Bay Tech.

Dropped Out: No. 7 Boca Raton (0-2)
