Seven former Florida high school football athletes, including two each from St. Thomas Aquinas and East Lake, found their names gracing the 2016 watch list of the Rimington Trophy this morning.
The Rimington Trophy, which has been presented annually since 2000, is awarded to the nation’s premier center by the Boomer Esiason Foundation. The award is named after Dave Rimington who played center for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1979 to 1982
Former Sarasota River center David Baas (Michigan), former Lakeland center Maurkice Pouncey (Florida) and former Vero Beach center Brian Stork (Florida State) have been the only athletes from Florida to have won the Rimington Trophy.
Here are the athletes from Florida that made the watch list.
