GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After eight weeks of football, the FHSAA has once again updated the playoff point averages for all teams in all classifications.

Once again, some big changes have taken place across the board this week as some teams have entered the projected playoff picture while others have fallen out. In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.

For Class 4A, you will find a breakdown of point averages for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.

REGION 1

Team Record Avg
Raines 6-1 41.29
West Nassau 6-1 36.71
Rutherford 2-5 33.86
Marianna 2-4 33.33
South Walton 3-4 33.14
Andrew Jackson 3-3 28.83
Gadsden County 0-6 28.67
Walton 0-7 28.00
Fernandina Beach 1-6 26.43
North Bay Haven 0-6 24.00
Wolfson 1-6 23.29

PROJECTED SEEDS

No. 1 Raines
No. 2 West Nassau
No. 3 Rutherford
No. 4 Marianna
No. 5 South Walton
No. 6 Andrew Jackson

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

BYES: No. 1 Raines, No. 2 West Nassau

No. 5 South Walton at No. 4 Marianna
No. 6 Andrew Jackson at No. 3 Rutherford

QUICK THOUGHTS: This is another region that saw a big impact from Hurricane Michael, so a lot of the programs here did not get to play last week. Still, however, a slight shift did occur with South Walton and Marianna trading seeds, but other than that, there is not much new to report other than it will remain to be seen how a lot of the remaining schedule plays out for programs that have been impacted in the Panhandle.

REGION 2

Team Record Avg
Bradford 4-4 39.13
Santa Fe (Alachua) 4-3 38.00
P.K. Yonge 6-1 37.86
The Villages 7-0 37.29
Dunnellon 3-5 37.00
South Sumter 4-4 34.75
Keystone Heights 3-3 33.83
Interlachen 2-5 31.14
Mount Dora 3-4 31.00
Trenton 1-6 28.43
Umatilla 0-8 25.63

PROJECTED SEEDS

No. 1 Bradford
No. 2 Santa Fe
No. 3 P.K. Yonge
No. 4 The Villages
No. 5 Dunnellon
No. 6 South Sumter

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

BYES: No. 1 Bradford, No. 2 Santa Fe

No. 5 Dunnellon at No. 4 The Villages
No. 6 South Sumter at No. 3 P.K. Yonge

QUICK THOUGHTS: Things get crazy here this week as Bradford despite falling to Cocoa retains the top seed, but Dunnellon falls from the No. 2 seed to the No. 5 seed after a huge setback against North Marion last week. Santa Fe moves up to the No. 2 seed while P.K. Yonge leapfrogs The Villages from the No. 5 seed to the No. 3 seed. Right at this moment, I would say don’t count on this seeding remaining the same.

REGION 3

Team Record Avg
Bishop Verot 7-1 40.88
Cocoa 5-2 39.71
Avon Park 5-2 39.14
LaBelle 5-2 38.71
Astronaut 6-1 38.29
Lake Placid 4-4 35.75
Atlantic (Port Orange) 5-1 35.50
Lake Highland Prep 4-3 35.00
Oasis 5-3 34.75
Tenoroc 1-5 32.00
Mulberry 3-4 31.86
Cypress Creek (Wesley Chapel) 2-5 29.43

PROJECTED SEEDS

No. 1 Bishop Verot
No. 2 Cocoa
No. 3 Avon Park
No. 4 LaBelle
No. 5 Astronaut
No. 6 Lake Placid

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

BYES: No. 1 Bishop Verot, No. 2 Cocoa

No. 5 Astronaut at No. 4 LaBelle
No. 6 Lake Placid at No. 3 Avon Park

QUICK THOUGHTS: A lot of changes here this week with the seeding as Bishop Verot moves up to No. 1 from No. 2 after a big win over American Heritage (Delray) while Avon Park tumbles to the No. 3 seed out of the No. 1 spot. Cocoa jumps from No. 4 to No. 2 after beating Bradford on the road last week. LaBelle slipped up last week to Lake Placid, falling from No. 3 to No. 4 while the No. 6 seed, for now, is Lake Placid’s after that win, but Port Orange Atlantic and Lake Highland Prep still very much in play for a possible spot and even potentially Oasis.

REGION 4

Team Record Avg
University School 7-0 41.43
Booker T. Washington 4-4 39.88
Monsignor Pace 5-3 39.25
Glades Central 4-3 37.14
Gulliver Prep 4-3 36.14
Pine Crest 3-4 35.43
Key West 4-3 35.14
North Broward Prep 4-4 33.88
Miami Edison 2-6 33.75
Coral Springs Charter 5-1 33.33
Immaculata-La Salle 2-6 31.25
Somerset Academy (Pembroke Pines) 3-5 30.38

PROJECTED SEEDS

No. 1 University School
No. 2 Booker T. Washington
No. 3 Monsignor Pace
No. 4 Glades Central
No. 5 Gulliver Prep
No. 6 Pine Crest

PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS

BYES: No. 1 University School, No. 2 Booker T. Washington

No. 5 Gulliver Prep at No. 4 Glades Central
No. 6 Pine Crest at No. 3 Monsignor Pace

QUICK THOUGHTS: Not many shifts this week in this region as everyone holds the same in the top four, but in the final two seeds, Gulliver Prep jumps in at the No. 5 seed after a big win over King’s Academy last week, while Pine Crest falls back to the No. 6 seed. Key West is on the outside looking in but still has a chance to make it in if they win out the rest of the schedule.
