Skinny: Visiting Florida High is coming off its best season in school history with a 12-2 record and a finish as the Class 3A State Runner-up is looking to make another deep run this season again and will start that campaign against a longtime foe in Taylor County. The visiting Seminoles, however, will not have several key players like QB Willie Taggart Jr., LB Aaron Ford, LB Alfred Menjor, and OL Logan Stinson. However, that doesn’t mean the cupboard is bare at all. In fact, four all-state players return along with other key contributors for the Seminoles including Henderson (28 catches, 493 yards, 7 TDs in 2019), Gilley (131 total tackles, 1 sack, 3 INTs, 2 pass breakups, 1 FR, 2 FF in 2019), Harvey (94 tackles, 1 sack, 6 INTs, 10 pass breakups, 1 FR, 1 FF in 2019), Donaldson (79 tackles, 5 INTs, 8 pass breakups, 1 FR, 1 FF). Expect all of those guys to once again have big seasons and be key contributors in this game. Over on the Bulldogs sideline, they are coming in off what was a hectic 2019 season where the school district superintendent, Danny Glover, took over as the interim head coach for the season after the previous head coach didn’t make it to his first game as a Bulldog. However, with that in the past, things turn to Eddie Metcalf to lead the reigns of the Bulldogs. However, Metcalf is going to have his work cut out for him after losing key all-state players like WR Zoe Roberts and do it all athlete Robert Glanton. However, there is a bright spot in all of this with all-state quarterback Kevis Thomas (2,137 yards passing, 15 TDs, 7 INTs; 544 rushing yards, 8 TDs in 2019) once again under center after leading the way last year as a freshman. However, anything could happen given the unpredictability of the COVID-19 era.
