Eight weeks are in the books for the 2021 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has released their latest look at the RPI football playoff rankings as we head into Week 9 of the season.
As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like come the second week of November, but remember things change, as we still have three weeks worth of games (including this week) to go, however, the playoff picture is starting to become much more clearer with few games left.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 3A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.

Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Florida High | 6-1 | 0.658 |
2 | Trinity Catholic | 4-2 | 0.649 |
3 | Walton | 7-1 | 0.637 |
4 | Crescent City | 4-3 | 0.598 |
5 | Episcopal | 5-2 | 0.568 |

7 | P.K. Yonge | 4-3 | 0.524 |
8 | Interlachen | 3-4 | 0.503 |
9 | Maclay | 2-4 | 0.458 |
10 | Providence | 3-4 | 0.457 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Florida High – BYE
No. 5 Episcopal vs. No. 4 Crescent City
No. 6 Pensacola Catholic vs. No. 3 Walton
No. 2 Trinity Catholic – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Florida High continues to lead the way in this region, but will have to fight off a strong push from both Trinity Catholic and Walton who are looking toward getting that No. 1 seed. Pensacola Catholic has crept into the bottom of the seeding at No. 6, but P.K. Yonge is not very far behind in the region.
REGION 2
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Lakeland Christian | 7-0 | 0.666 |
2 | Benjamin | 4-3 | 0.594 |
3 | The First Academy (Orlando) | 4-2 | 0.534 |
4 | Frostproof | 4-3 | 0.501 |
5 | Windermere Prep | 2-5 | 0.434 |
6 | Lake Placid | 3-8 | 0.427 |
7 | Melbourne Central Catholic | 1-5 | 0.401 |
8 | Avon Park | 2-4 | 0.398 |
9 | Trinity Prep | 1-6 | 0.370 |
10 | Cornerstone Charter | 0-4 | 0.360 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Lakeland Christian – BYE
No. 5 Windermere Prep vs. No. 4 Frostproof
No. 6 Lake Placid vs. No. 3 The First Academy
No. 2 Benjamin – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Surprisingly after two straight losses Benjamin continues to remain the No. 2 seed in the region while Lakeland Christian has a near-death grip on the No. 1 seed in the region. Looking at No. 5 and No. 6 seeds, things get in a toss-up depending on how the remaining three weeks go, but you are starting to see at least the top four teams likely being locked for the playoffs.
REGION 3
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Berkeley Prep | 7-0 | 0.665 |
2 | Clearwater Central Catholic | 4-3 | 0.642 |
3 | Bishop Verot | 4-3 | 0.626 |
4 | Carrollwood Day | 5-2 | 0.619 |
5 | Cardinal Mooney | 6-2 | 0.591 |
6 | Tampa Catholic | 4-2 | 0.591 |
7 | Calvary Christian | 3-4 | 0.560 |
8 | St. Petersburg Catholic | 3-4 | 0.517 |
9 | Oasis | 2-5 | 0.398 |
10 | Gateway (Fort Myers) | 1-6 | 0.327 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Berkeley Prep – BYE
No. 5 Cardinal Mooney vs. No. 4 Carrollwood Day
No. 6 Tampa Catholic vs. No. 3 Bishop Verot
No. 2 Clearwater Central Catholic – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Tampa Catholic who was on the outside looking in last week has made a jump back into the top six teams in the region while Bishop Verot has moved significantly after picking up a huge win last week over Naples First Baptist. While Berkeley Prep leads the region, Clearwater Central Catholic is not too far behind trying to contend for the No. 1 spot, even with their 4-3 record which is a result of a very tough schedule.
REGION 4
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Chaminade-Madonna | 5-1 | 0.782 |
2 | Florida Christian | 7-0 | 0.682 |
3 | Cardinal Newman | 6-2 | 0.613 |
4 | King’s Academy | 5-2 | 0.561 |
5 | Somerset South Homestead | 3-2 | 0.547 |
6 | Palmer Trinity | 3-2 | 0.509 |
7 | Miami Edison | 3-3 | 0.504 |
8 | Somerset Silver Palms | 3-3 | 0.497 |
9 | Saint Andrew’s | 4-3 | 0.492 |
10 | Westminster Christian | 2-5 | 0.464 |
11 | Everglades Prep | 1-5 | 0.422 |
12 | Inlet Grove | 2-6 | 0.405 |
13 | St. John Paul II (Boca Raton) | 0-6 | 0.354 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Chaminade-Madonna – BYE
No. 5 Somerset South Homestead vs. No. 4 King’s Academy
No. 6 Palmer Trinity vs. No. 3 Cardinal Newman
No. 2 Florida Christian – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: What may be the most interesting is that while Miami Edison is one of our top-ranked teams in Class 3A on the FloridaHSFootball.com rankings. They are ranked No. 7 in the latest RPI rankings and could be missing the playoffs if they were to start today. However, what was expected has happened with Chaminade-Madonna leading the region at No. 1.
