Nine weeks are in the books for the 2021 Florida high school football season and the FHSAA has released their latest look at the RPI football playoff rankings as we head into Week 10 of the season.
As such this update provides the entire state a glimpse of what the potential playoff matchups could be looking like come the second week of November, but remember things change, as we still have three weeks worth of games (including this week) to go, however, the playoff picture is starting to become much more clearer with few games left.
In Classes 5A-8A, district record was taken into consideration except on certain exceptions which are noted.
For Class 1A, you will find a breakdown of RPI rankings for each team in every region and a projected seeding (including tiebreakers) based upon the guidelines as published by the FHSAA (click here to view), as well as quick thoughts about each region.
REGION 1
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Baker | 5-2 | 0.619 |
2 | Chipley | 6-2 | 0.597 |
3 | Holmes County | 5-3 | 0.562 |
4 | Freeport | 4-4 | 0.506 |
5 | Northview | 3-4 | 0.495 |
6 | Bozeman | 4-4 | 0.483 |
7 | Jay | 0-8 | 0.393 |
8 | Cottondale | 2-5 | 0.370 |
9 | Graceville | 1-7 | 0.354 |
10 | Vernon | 0-6 | 0.282 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Baker – BYE
No. 5 Northview vs. No. 4 Freeport
No. 6 Bozeman vs. No. 3 Holmes County
No. 2 Chipley- BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: The top three teams remain the same from last week, but Freeport and Northview have swapped places in the seeding meaning the difference between potentially hosting and being on the road to open the playoffs. For Bozeman, they round out the Top 6 teams that will make it into the playoffs from Region 1.
REGION 2
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Blountstown | 6-1 | 0.656 |
2 | Port St. Joe | 6-1 | 0.601 |
3 | Madison County | 5-3 | 0.592 |
4 | Liberty County | 7-1 | 0.573 |
5 | Sneads | 6-2 | 0.531 |
6 | Wewahitchka | 3-5 | 0.420 |
7 | Jefferson County | 2-6 | 0.363 |
8 | Hamilton County | 1-6 | 0.358 |
9 | Franklin County | 0-7 | 0.273 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Blountstown – BYE
No. 5 Sneads vs. No. 4 Liberty County
No. 6 Wewahitchka vs. No. 3 Madison County
No. 2 Port St. Joe – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: Not one thing has changed in the playoff positioning for any of the Top 6 teams and in the region and the Top 6 you see now is likely to stay this way, but could the order change by the time we get done with this week and next week? The answer is yes, but it might be hard for Port St. Joe or Madison County to catch Blountstown at the moment.
REGION 3
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Chiefland | 8-0 | 0.670 |
2 | Hilliard | 8-0 | 0.660 |
3 | Union County | 8-0 | 0.636 |
4 | Lafayette | 6-2 | 0.580 |
5 | Fort White | 4-3 | 0.507 |
6 | Trenton | 3-4 | 0.505 |
7 | Branford | 4-4 | 0.469 |
8 | Bell | 3-6 | 0.382 |
9 | Dixie County | 2-5 | 0.286 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Chiefland – BYE
No. 5 Fort White vs. No. 4 Lafayette
No. 6 Trenton vs. No. 3 Union County
No. 2 Hilliard – BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: We have had some shifts again in Region 3 with Hilliard and Union County trading places and that is the difference between hosting a Regional Quarterfinal or getting a bye into the Regional Semifinals. Everyone else remains the same from last week in terms of who is seeded for a possible playoff berth.
REGION 4
Rank | Team | Record | RPI |
1 | Hawthorne | 7-0 | 0.670 |
2 | Pahokee | 6-1 | 0.592 |
3 | Bradford | 4-4 | 0.552 |
4 | Newberry | 5-3 | 0.531 |
5 | Wildwood | 3-4 | 0.497 |
6 | Fort Meade | 4-4 | 0.470 |
7 | Bronson | 4-4 | 0.443 |
8 | Taylor (Pierson) | 2-5 | 0.382 |
9 | Williston | 0-7 | 0.319 |
PROJECTED REGIONAL QUARTERFINAL PAIRINGS
No. 1 Hawthorne – BYE
No. 5 Wildwood vs. No. 4 Newberry
No. 6 Fort Meade vs. No. 3 Bradford
No. 2 Pahokee- BYE
QUICK THOUGHTS: The only thing that changes this week is the fact that Wildwood and Fort Meade have traded spots in the seeding between No. 5 and No. 6. Right now it appears that Bronson’s chances highly diminished last week after suffering a huge loss to Munroe Day at home.
