District tournament week is here for Flag Football and there is a lot of exciting action about to go down in all 32 districts in two classifications across the Sunshine State with the preparation of regional playoffs starting next week.

Here is a look at the districts in Class 2A-Region 4 which includes Districts 13, 14, 15, and 16.

DISTRICT 2A-13

FINALS
at Fort Lauderdale Dillard
Friday

District Championship, 4

QUICK ANALYSIS: This district is very interesting with on of the top teams in the state in Davie Western having another successful season as they look for a second straight trip to the state finals, finished the regular season undefeated while newcomer St. Thomas Aquinas has won 11 games in the first season. Dillard which has been a playoff team the last few years and reached the Class 1A state championship game in 2019 will need to have a strong performance in hopes that their power ranking will climb high enough to get at least an at-large playoff berth. But it appears at least this district will have two teams reach the regional playoffs this season.

PLAYOFF TEAMS PREDICTION
Western – District Champion
St. Thomas Aquinas – At-Large

DISTRICT 2A-14

PLAY IN-GAMES
at Hollywood McArthur
Monday

No. 9 Hollywood McArthur (4-8) vs. No. 8 Pembroke Pines Flanagan (2-6), 3

No. 5 Miramar (6-4) vs. No. 4 Hollywood South Broward (10-0), 5:30
Winner of West Broward/Everglades vs. No. 2 Cooper City (11-3), 4
No. 6 Lauderdale Lakes Boyd Anderson (5-3) vs. No. 3 Miami Dr. Krop (8-2), 5:30

Remaining Schedule

SEMIFINALS
at Hollywood McArthur
Wednesday

Winner of Play-In/Cypress Bay vs. Winner of Miramar/South Broward, 4
Winner of Play-In/Cooper City vs. Winner of Boyd Anderson/Dr. Krop, 4

FINALS
at Hollywood McArthur
Thursday

District Championship, 4

QUICK ANALYSIS: Cypress Bay has been a stunning performer this year claiming the No. 1 seed over potential district favorites Cooper City and Dr. Krop. Cooper City has bounced back this season after struggling last season and falling early in the district tournament while Dr. Krop struggled at the start of the season but has since bounced back nicely but will have to work their way through the district to make sure they can at least secure an at-large playoff berth. Overall, there is a good chance that three teams from this district could emerge into the regional playoff bracket. The biggest thing to note here in all of this… Cypress Bay and Cooper City have not played each other in the regular season and Cooper City’s losses to Western, Tampa Robinson, and Riverview should help push them over the top, most likely. South Broward which comes into the district tournament undefeated is currently ranked No. 9 in the region and will need some help and some quality wins to potentially snag an at-large playoff berth.

PLAYOFF TEAMS PREDICTION
Cooper City – District Champion
Dr. Krop – At-Large
Cypress Bay – At-Large

DISTRICT 2A-15

PLAY IN-GAME
at Miami Beach
Monday

No. 9 Doral Reagan (1-7) vs. No. 8 Miami Beach (2-7), 3:30

QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS
at Curtis Park
Tuesday

Winner of Reagan/Miami Beach vs. No. 1 Miami High (10-1), 11 a.m.
No. 5 Hialeah Gardens Mater Academy (6-6) vs. No. 4 Hialeah Gardens (5-4), 12:30
No. 7 Hialeah (1-7) vs. No. 2 Hialeah American (5-3), 2
No. 6 North Miami (4-7) vs. No. 3 Miami Goleman (9-3), 3

Remaining Schedule

SEMIFINALS
at Curtis Park
Wednesday

Winner of Play-In/Miami High vs. Winner of Mater Academy/Hialeah Gardens, 1
Winner of Hialeah/American vs. Winner of North Miami/Goleman, 2:30

FINALS
at Curtis Park
Thursday

District Championship, 3

QUICK ANALYSIS: Miami High has been consistent in the flag football season since Miami-Dade County added the sport back in 2016 and has earned the top seed in their district once again. Outside of that, teams like American and Goleman are going to need impressive showings in the district tournament and likely will need to reach the district championship game in hopes of reaching the playoffs with at least an at-large berth. Currently, American is ranked No. 10 in Region 4 while Goleman is No. 14.

PLAYOFF TEAMS PREDICTION
Miami High – District Champion

DISTRICT 2A-16

PLAY IN-GAME
at Coral Gables
Monday

No. 9 Miami Coral Park (2-9) vs. No. 8 Coral Gables (1-8), 3:30

QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS
at Higher Seed
Tuesday

Winner of Coral Park/Coral Gables at No. 1 Miami Ferguson (9-2), 3:30
No. 5 Miami Braddock (5-7) at No. 4 Miami Coral Reef (7-3), 3:30
No. 7 Miami Varela (4-6) at No. 2 Homestead (9-1), 3:30
No. 6 Southwest Miami (4-5) vs. No. 3 Miami Southridge (6-3) at Southridge Park, 3:30

Remaining Schedule

SEMIFINALS
at Southridge Park
Wednesday

Winner of Play-In/Ferguson vs. Winner of Braddock/Coral Reef, 3
Winner of Varela/Homestead vs. Winner of Southwest Miami/Miami Southridge, 5

FINALS
at Southridge Park
Friday

District Championship, 5

QUICK ANALYSIS: Ferguson is another team that has been consistent with being in the top teams in Miami-Dade County since the sport was added in 2016 and now, they got another team in the district in Homestead that has had a great year and only added flag football a couple of years ago that has had great success here in 2022. Currently both Ferguson and Homestead rank as the No. 7 and No.  8 teams in the regional rankings while Miami Southridge who earned the No. 3 seed is sitting at No. 12 in Region 4.

PLAYOFF TEAMS PREDICTION
Ferguson – District Champion
Homestead – At-Large
