Mainstreet Daily News Sports Editor Mike Ridaught later reported in his story with a quote from Gainesville High athletic director Phillip Knight that “Gainesville High School would like to thank head football coach Dock Pollard for his service at our school. He has served our students very well for the past three years.”
The hope of building off a district championship season in 2021 faded fast before the season started when several key players transferred to other schools leading to the dismal 2022 season that started off with a 68-0 thrashing by Vanguard in Week 1.
Knight went on to say that Pollard’s last game with the Hurricanes will be this Friday against Eastside (Gainesville) which is currently 6-2 overall on the season in a city rivalry showdown to end the season.
Pollard currently has a record of 10-18 overall in his three years with the Hurricanes which includes the district championship which was won by the Hurricanes for the first time in seven years last year.
