With high school football back in full swing around the state, the scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week Awards have returned for the 2023 season. Along with nominations from coaches and media and research from scoutSMART and FloridaHSFootball.com we will present to you five candidates for the scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week.
Voting is open to fans to help decide who should be the scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week for Week 2 is now through Noon on Friday, September 22. The winner will be announced on Friday by scoutSMART and FloridaHSFootball.com social media platforms on Friday, September 22, with a full profile on the winner presented on Monday, September 25.
EDITOR’S NOTE: The scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week poll is intended to be fun, and without limits, and be supported with good sportsmanship. However, at anytime that is suspected that votes received for an athletes that are generated by any means outside of human voting will be disqualified from the poll.
THE NOMINEES
QB Anthony Barbar, Sr., Westminster Academy (Fort Lauderdale) – Barbar went 20-of-32 passing for 283 yards and five touchdowns for the Lions in a 42-14 victory over Somerset Academy Key (Deerfield Beach). Barbar has 73% passing completion percentage so far on the season.
RB/LB Myles Graham, Sr., Buchholz (Gainesville) – Graham accounted for over 200 yards rushing and three touchdowns in substitute running back duties including a gut busting 96-yard touchdown in the first quarter, leading Buchholz to a district victory over Creekside (St. Johns) in Week 4. Graham also accounted for several tackles on the defensive side of the ball for the Bobcats.
QB Anthony Hall, QB, Sr., Escambia (Pensacola) – Helping the Gators thrash Fort Walton Beach 37-0 to open up district play, Hall put up healthy numbers with 267 yards passing along with four touchdowns to move Escambia to 3-1 on the seaon
QB Sabby Meassick, So., Tohopekaliga (Kissimmee) – The sophomore sensation for the Tigers led them to a huge 41-19 victory over St. Cloud to open up district play. In that action Meassick went 44-of-53 passing for 485 yards and six touchdowns.
RB Marcus Mitchell, Jr., Flagler Palm Coast – Gut punching city and county rival Matanzas (Palm Coast) in a 28-9 victory in the Potato Bowl, Mitchell rushed for 25 times and 288 yards and scored all four touchdowns plus caught a pass for 11 yards.
QB Ty Robinson, Sr., Steinbrenner (Lutz) – The senior quarterback led the Warriors to their first win of the season over Lennard (Ruskin), 31-20 throwing 353 yards and 25-of-40 pass completions. Three of his pass completions were completed for touchdowns in the strong showing by Robinson.

Make sure you have your statistician compile stats in a timely manner over the weekend to allow time to have your athlete nominated for scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week.
