With high school football back in full swing around the state, the scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week Awards have returned for the 2023 season. Along with nominations from coaches and media and research from scoutSMART and FloridaHSFootball.com we will present to you five candidates for the scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week.
Voting is open to fans to help decide who should be the scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week for Week 5 is now through 5 p.m. on Friday, October 6. The winner will be announced on Friday by scoutSMART and FloridaHSFootball.com social media platforms on Friday, September 22, with a full profile on the winner presented next week on FloridaHSFootball.com
EDITOR’S NOTE: The scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week poll is intended to be fun, and without limits, and be supported with good sportsmanship. However, at anytime that is suspected that votes received for an athletes that are generated by any means outside of human voting will be disqualified from the poll.
RB Laython Biddle, Bartram Trail (St. Johns) – Biddle had a monster game for the Bears rushing 25 times for 298 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-28 victory over Fleming Island.
QB Juan Gainous, Olympia (Orlando) – In a massive 61-7 victory over Windermere, Gainous threw for 362 yards on 10-of-15 passing completions while throwing six touchdowns.
DE Tylon Lee, Pace – Had a monstrous game defensively for the Patriots with 5 tackles, 4 TFL, and 3 sacks in a 55-24 victory over Gulf Breeze in district action.
QB JP Pickles, North Florida Christian (Tallahassee) – Pickles went 23-of-34 passing for 352 yards and five touchdowns in the Eagles’ 46-6 victory over Maclay to open up district play.
CB Alloysius Tyson, Riverview (Riverview) – Tyson was effective in shutting down Newsome (Lithia) in their passing game by intercepting two passes along with two tackles to guide the Sharks to 28-14 victory to kickoff district play.
QB Malachi Walters, University (Orange City) – Went 14-of-18 passing for 184 yards and throwing four touchdowns in the Titans dominating 41-7 performance over New Smyrna Beach in district action.
WR Winston Watkins, First Baptist (Naples) – Hauled in five passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns in a wild barnburner 48-46 victory over Golden Gate (Naples).

Nomination form opens every week on Friday nights and will close at Noon Eastern Time on Monday’s. Make sure you have your statistician compile stats in a timely manner over the weekend to allow time to have your athlete nominated for scoutSMART Florida Player of the Week.
